Private House Tzur Hadassah
Where Art, Architecture, and Personality Meet
This project involved the interior design of a private residence in Tzur Hadassah, home to artist Helen Shaul, whose artwork plays a central role in shaping the character and atmosphere of the house.
The residence was originally designed several decades ago by architect Shimon Shapiro, one of Israel's most influential and distinctive architectural figures. Shapiro's residential projects were known for their bold compositions of intersecting lines, angles, and spatial relationships, creating highly expressive and unconventional living environments. While these architectural gestures are deeply appreciated by those who value art and architecture, they can also present unique design challenges due to their complex geometries and non-standard spaces.
When Helen purchased the house, she saw more than a residence—she recognized an architectural work of art. From that point, a collaborative design process began, focused on adapting the home to her lifestyle, creative work, and artistic identity while preserving the architectural qualities that originally attracted her to the property.
The interior design was developed around the artist's works, preferred materials, and personal aesthetic language. Creative workspaces were integrated naturally into the home, allowing art to become part of everyday life. The house functions as a living gallery, continually evolving as artworks change and new pieces become part of the environment.
The result is a home that brings together distinctive architecture, personal artistic expression, and thoughtful interior design—creating a unique living environment where architecture, art, and daily life exist in harmony.
